Job Description As part of our BAE Systems Jacksonville Ship
Repair (JSR) team, you will be working alongside some of the
industry's top talent on the forefront of technology. We are
currently hiring for an experienced Manger of Engineering to
oversee our Engineering Services Division. As the Manager of
Engineering at BAE Systems JSR, you will be responsible for
overseeing subordinate engineering efforts related to naval
architecture and marine engineering, heavy-lift engineering,
industrial engineering, and civil engineering as it relates to ship
repair, build projects, capital expenditures, conversions, and
heavy lift moves. This role involves coordinating departmental
resources, and supporting a workforce of over 800 employees. The
successful candidate will lead initiatives to improve departmental
capabilities, manage training programs, and ensure that engineering
deliverables align with production goals.I. SAFETYLeader and
Initiator in Safety. Ensures Engineering Division's compliance with
all company & OSHA regulated safety requirements/standards. II.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Develop and maintain training programs for the engineering
group.
- Mentor direct subordinates and manage personnel decisions
including hiring and termination.
- Lead meetings with engineering personnel and other departments
to support business objectives.
- Report department performance to senior management.
- Interface with internal and external customers, regulatory
agencies, and subcontractors.
- Manage the coordination and integration of technical activities
in engineering projects.
- Oversee development and follow up on complete engineered
Lifting and Transport plans.
- Oversee calculations (ground pressure, transporter suitability,
crane capacity, steel structures and lifting equipment) and
determining the details of projects.
- Direct, review, and approve project design changes.
- Assists the Senior Dockmaster with planning and executing safe
drydocking evolutions and vessel launchings.
- Maintains positive stability of all vessels under company
control.
- Plans and schedules manpower, material, and equipment.
- Able to analyze and interpret technical information and
drawings
- Responsible for determining docking feasibility through review
of relevant drawings, vessel survey and/or client supplied docking
plans. Maintain up to date database of vessels docked with 'red
lined' drawings and calculations.
- Prepare vessel specific docking procedures and assist Senior
Dockmaster with dock/undock conferences (with both internal and
external stakeholders).
- Oversee and approve blocking setup.
- Coordinate vessel scheduling with Operations and
management.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Assist Estimating Department (-10%)
- Some travel required.III. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises personnel in the Engineering Services Division and
personnel assigned during vessel drydocking evolutions, and vessel
launching.IV. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an
individual must be able to perform each essential duty
satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of
the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required/preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of AUTOCAD--- or similar 2D design software
is required
- Experience with Microsoft Suite and MS Project a must
- Strong oral and written English language communication and
interpersonal skills required
- Organized, good attention to detail and results drivenRequired
Education, Experience, & Skills EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture and/or Marine
Engineering from a four year college or university; or five to ten
years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination
of education and experience.
- Knowledge of MIL-STD 1625 series, NAVSHIPS Technical Manual,
Chapter 997, and Facility Certification Reports.
- Knowledge of docking procedures, ship handling, and ship
design
- Proficient in computer applications such as MS Word, Excel,
Access, and AutoCAD.
- Keen on thinking creatively
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Able to work effectively with a team of engineers
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skillsPreferred
Education, Experience, & Skills LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read,
analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional
journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure
manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to
questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the
general public.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with
mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid
geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as
fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical
situations. Ability to work with metric system
conversions.REASONING ABILITY Shall possess the ability to define
problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid
conclusions. Shall possess the ability to interpret an extensive
variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. PHYSICAL
DEMANDS The physical demands described here are those that must be
met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions
of this job. Must be able to tour all vessels, piers, docks, & work
sites. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is
regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or
feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; climb or balance,
stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift
and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by
this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision,
depth perception, & ability to adjust focus.WORK ENVIRONMENT The
work environment characteristics described here are representative
of those an employee encounters while performing the essential
functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the
employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions;
moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne
particles; outside weather conditions; extreme heat; and vibration.

InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $133333 - $226667Please note:
This range is based on our market pay structures. However,
individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors
including, but not limited to: business considerations, local
market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate
qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience. Employee
